DMA Hosts Diversity Month Lunch and Learn

To celebrate Global Diversity Awareness Month, the Dental Multicultural Association hosted a lunch and learn with Haleon on Oct. 19. More than 190 students, faculty, and staff enjoyed lunch from McCalister’s Deli (sponsored by Haleon) and learned about oral hygiene products and diversity in dentistry through presentations from Ryan Enright, Strategic Account Manager for Haleon, and from Dr. Linah Shahoumi, Associate Professor of Oral Biology and Diagnostics Sciences. Shahoumi, originally from Libya, shared her journey on diversity throughout her career. Her presentation emphasized the importance of having an open mind and a willingness to learn from others, allowing culture to be a connecting point rather than a barrier.
