Alum named acting associate dean for dental research at USU

A master of science in oral biology from Augusta University helped lay the foundation for Army Col. (Dr.) Kevin R. Gillespie’s career in military dentistry, research and leadership. More than two decades after graduating, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) Postgraduate Dental College has named Gillespie acting associate dean for dental research.

In this role, Gillespie will lead efforts to develop a unified Tri-Service Dental Research Program to consolidate Army, Navy and Air Force dental research capabilities and funding around shared military health priorities.

Gillespie currently serves as executive director of the Tri-Service Dental Research Consortium at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
