Augusta University’s economic impact across Georgia continues to grow. According to the University System of Georgia, in Fiscal Year 2025, the university contributed $1.78 billion to Georgia’s economy, a 10.4% increase from the previous year. That impact includes 12,325 jobs tied to the university’s statewide activity.
The impact reaches far beyond campus. AU prepares Georgia’s future workforce, advances research, provides health care and supports communities across the state. But it does include direct spending. AU’s 11,584 students contributed through their spending, which totaled approximately $211 million during the 2024-25 academic year. Student spending alone outpaced the economic impact of the Masters Tournament, which brings in between $140-$160 million every year.
And AU’s impact continues after graduation: A companion study found that bachelor’s degree graduates from the Class of 2025 could earn an average of more than $1.4 million over their lifetimes compared with individuals without a college degree.
