On Aug. 17, a team of dental students, pediatric dentistry residents, and faculty from The DCG volunteered their skills for a Peds2U Clinic at A. Dorothy Hains Elementary School in South Augusta. The clinic offered comprehensive healthcare screenings, including pediatric dentistry, medicine, hearing, vision, and general wellness screenings for local children.
DCG volunteers played a crucial role in the event by screening 40 children and assisting parents with school enrollment paperwork. In addition to conducting dental examinations, the team provided necessary referrals for follow-up dental care.
Jake Rehak (D3) coordinated the dental portion of the event, with support from dental students Maliheh Sehati (D2), Douha Ghazal (D3), and Wes James (D2). Second-year pediatric dentistry residents Dr. Katlyn Barlowe and Dr. Savanah Price, and first-year pediatric dentistry residents Dr. Hannah Cox and Dr. Carolyn Neumeister lent their expertise to the clinic, as well. Dr. Michael Milano, Program Director for the DCG Pediatrics Residency, provided leadership and oversight.
