D3s get training for mobility challenges

DCG Building

Third-year dental students at Augusta University recently completed hands-on training in wheelchair transfer techniques commonly used in dental practice settings.

The session was led by doctor of physical therapy candidates from the College of Allied Health Sciences, offering students valuable, real-world experience in patient care.

Special thanks to Dr. Margaret Blagg, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, and Mrs. Kathy Riggs, L.P.T., for their instruction and support of D3 students in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry’s special care curriculum. This collaboration has grown into a meaningful annual training that strengthens students’ ability to provide compassionate, accessible care for patients with special needs.
