DCG students volunteer at Special Olympics event

DCG volunteers at Special Olympics Special Smiles

The Special Olympics Georgia Summer Games took place on Saturday, May 23, at the Emory University Student Center, where students from The Dental College of Georgia led volunteer efforts through the Special Smiles program.

DCG students provided oral health screenings, delivered preventive education, and guided athletes on next steps for care throughout the day. They worked alongside dental professionals to support athletes onsite and assisted with fitting custom sports mouth guards when needed. The program, supported by the Georgia Dental Association Foundation, also connected athletes with referrals for follow-up treatment.

Through their hands-on service, DCG students strengthened their clinical skills, demonstrated leadership in community outreach, and directly supported the health and well-being of Special Olympics athletes across Georgia.
