Dr. Eladio DeLeon Retires after 26 Years of Service

The DCG at Augusta University gathered for a reception to bid a happy retirement to Dr. Eladio DeLeon, Marvin C. Goldstein Chair of #Orthodontics and director of the Orthodontic Residency Program.

Dr. DeLeon gave 26 years of service to The DCG and AU. He joined our faculty in 1998 and over his tenure taught comprehensive orthodontic diagnosis and treatment courses. He served on numerous AU and DCG committees and was elected to national leadership positions with the American Board of Orthodontics, including terms as Secretary/Treasurer and President. Over his time at the university, Dr. DeLeon published more than 40 professional and research articles during his career, including work in the Journal of Dental Research, the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, The Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal and the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry.

Prior to his respected career at AU and The DCG, Dr. DeLeon served 22 years of active service in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, retiring as a Colonel. During his military career, he served as consultant and mentor in Orthodontics at numerous locations throughout the United States and Europe.

Dr. Eladio DeLeon, Jr. is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he received his D.M.D. in 1976. He completed his Orthodontic Residency training and received his orthodontic certificate and M.S. degree at the University of Missouri. He is a member of the American Dental Association, and has served as an Orthodontic Review committee member for the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Southern Association of Orthodontists and the Georgia Association of Orthodontists.
