El-Awady awarded intramural research grant

Congratulations to Ahmed El-Awady, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics and the Department of Oral Biology and Diagnostic Sciences, for being awarded an intramural grant from the Division of Sponsored Programs Administration and the Augusta University Research Institute. In partnership with Hasan Korkaya, PhD, from the Georgia Cancer Center, El-Awady will study “The Role of Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells in Dendritic Cell Dysfunction in Periodontitis.”

The Intramural Grants Program (IGP) assists and encourages faculty to develop research programs that can successfully compete for extramural funding, encourage clinical and translational research between colleagues, and to provide bridge funds when applicable.
