Dr. Ahmed El-Awady (Photo, far left), Interim Program Director for the Periodontics Residency and Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics, recently served as an invited speaker at the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) Future Horizons in Periodontology session at the AAP Annual Meeting in San Diego. El-Awady presented “Pharmacogenomics to Precision Prescriptions in Periodontal Patients” to an audience of global researchers, practitioners and educators.
Dr. El-Awady discussed the application of pharmacogenomics to tailor medication prescriptions for periodontal patients, reducing adverse drug reactions and optimizing treatment outcomes. This clinical research project at DCG has positioned the school as the nation’s leader in employing pharmacogenomics to personalize prescriptions for dental surgeries”
