Dr. Ranya Elsayed, assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics at the Dental College of Georgia, was named the 2026 recipient of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) Anne D. Haffajee Fellowship, a national honor recognizing excellence in periodontal research at the IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session & Exhibition, held March 25-28 in San Diego.

The fellowship, which includes a $10,000 award, is presented by the AADOCR and is supported through an endowed fund established by the organization and contributions from donors, including Dr. Charles Haffajee, AADOCR members and corporate partners.

Created in recognition of Dr. Anne D. Haffajee’s lasting impact on clinical research in periodontology and oral biology, the fellowship also honors her legacy as a pioneering female leader in the field. It is designed to support promising researchers in the early stages of their scientific careers.

Elsayed was selected by the AADOCR Fellowships Committee for her contributions and achievements in periodontal research. Her work focuses on advancing understanding of periodontal disease and oral biology, with the fellowship supporting continued research efforts aimed at improving patient outcomes.

“This recognition is both an honor and an opportunity to further advance research that can make a meaningful impact in the periodontal field and on oral health,” Elsayed said.

The recognition underscores the Dental College of Georgia’s commitment to advancing research and supporting faculty who are shaping the future of oral health care.
