Dr. Frazier presenting at the 2023 DCG Faculty RetreatThe Dental College of Georgia recently hosted it’s a summer faculty retreat in the Education Commons (see header photo).

The event was coordinated by Dr. Kevin Frazier, Vice Dean of The DCG, to tackle existing challenges that the college faces, including supporting student success, faculty professional development, community engagement and faculty recruitment and retention. Interdisciplinary groups of faculty collaborated in breakout sessions to brainstorm about these topics to enable us to align with campus expectations in each category and to seek opportunities for innovation and improvement.

“Regarding student success, our faculty have the potential to enhance the quality of the educational experience in a unique way for our students and thereby create a lifelong impact that is meaningful for each one. There is no more important role in our university than that of an educator, and especially for those students, residents and graduate students in the health sciences.” Frazier said.

Frazier said that faculty participation and contributions regarding campus decisions hold great significance in understanding the university’s dynamics and their valuable insights shape how we manage the institution.

The retreat was followed by the final DCG faculty senate meeting of the academic year and ended with a social reception in The DCG.
