More than 350 Families Benefit from Dental Health Outreach

Volunteers at The HUB Back to school bash

DCG Community Outreach Programs (COP), along with dental student volunteers, participated in the annual Back to School Bash at The HUB for Community Innovation to help families as they gear up for the new school year in August.

More than 1,000 participants showed up for a fun-filled day of games, activities, food, bookbags filled with school supplies, free books and health and vision screenings. With the help of our dental students, DCG COP gave out more than 350 dental hygiene kits filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, sugar-free treats, toys and stickers. DCG students took the opportunity to educate families about oral health, share their experiences as dental students and encourage families in need of dental care to become DCG patients.

Thanks to the tremendous efforts from our student volunteers, nearly 30 potential patients are interested in moving to The DCG for their dental health needs.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at this event, but especially to Ketarya Hunt Bass, DCG Director of Community Outreach Programs, and Steve Huston, Oral Health Outreach Coordinator, for their leadership.
