University Announces Alumni Award Winners

Augusta University announced the recipients of the 2023 Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni awards. Winners from each college will be recognized at their college events during AU Alumni Weekend from April 28-30. From the DCG, we will celebrate Dr. J. Ben Deal (DMD, ’74), founder and owner of Augusta Family Dentistry, as Distinguished Alumnus. Deal has served the metro-Augusta community for 40 years, and currently chairs the MCG Foundation. The DCG will also celebrate Dr. Jose Navarro (DMD, ’12), owner of Palm Tree Orthodontics in Tampa, Florida, as Outstanding Young Alumnus. Navarro is originally from Nicaragua, and regularly returns to share his expertise by treating underprivileged children in conjunction with local dentists.
