AAPHD Provides Dental Screenings at Dream Center

The DCG chapter of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) recently provided dental screenings for school-aged children at the Augusta Dream Center, as part of the center’s back-to-school event. First-year DCG students charted, stayed with patients throughout the process and provided oral hygiene instructions. Third- and fourth-year students performed screenings, while training second-year students, who assisted. Dr. Kim Capehart, Dr. Elise de Latour, Dr. Kristin Goodell and Dr. Rhoda Sword helped to facilitate the event.

AAPHD supports oral health promotion and disease prevention through health fairs, professional presentations, fundraising and education. The organization is open to any student interested in oral health.
