ASDA brings home the Gold (Crown)

Dental College of Georgia students attended the District 4 American Student Dental Association (ASDA) conference Jan. 19–21 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The chapter won the award for Outstanding Advocacy Involvement for the southeastern district.

“We had a very audacious goal this year to increase our chapter’s involvement in advocacy,” Kellie Soafer, AU’s chapter president said. “We implemented new initiatives at the DCG. These included lunch-and-learns about advocacy, a voter registration drive, education about student disability and life insurance through ASDA/ADA, and encouraging involvement with lobby day. This award was given due to our hard work.”

The DCG chapter of ASDA was also presented with the Golden Crown Award for the school with the most ASDA involvement. The award was given on the basis of an essay and video that each chapter submitted to show how it met ASDA’s six Gold Crown categories: member engagement and value, community service, advocacy, health and wellness, and professional development and leadership.
