Dr. William Bachand was recently selected by his dental faculty colleagues to receive the 2022 DCG Outstanding Faculty Award at the AU Spring Assembly. He joined the DCG as an Associate Professor in Restorative Sciences in 2013. He earned his DDS at the Marquette University School of Dentistry and subsequently completed a General Practice Residency at Fort Ord, CA and an AEGD residency at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Dr. Bachand had a distinguished military career serving for 34 years in the US Army, attaining the rank of colonel.
His service with the DCG includes co-chair of the CEPAC committee, AU Senator and as clinical faculty representative to the Administrative Council and clinical director of restorative dentistry for junior dental students. For the profession, his service includes deputy regent, District 4, with the International College of Dentists, chair of the Georgia Section of the American College of Dentists, president of the Eastern District Dental Society and chair of Membership for the Georgia Dental Association.
