DCG Excels in Augusta Road Race

The DCG was well represented on February 25 at the 14th annual Augusta Half Marathon, 10K & 5K. The road race includes a 13.1-mile half marathon, 10-kilometer run and 5-kilometer run that take runners on a course through some of the Garden City’s most scenic areas, showing off its charm. The event is also a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, and is an outlet for charities to raise funding.

In the half marathon:

• Laura Powell, D4, won first place among all female runners and came in fourth place among all competitors, with a time of 1:25:30.

• John Corbett, D2, won second place in the Male 20-to-24 age group, ninth place among all males and tenth among all competitors, with a time of 1:29:22.

• David Young, Office Manager for the DCG Business Office, won first in the Male 55-to-59, 26th among all males and 32nd overall, with a time of 1:39:42.

• Dr. Carole Hanes, Associate Dean of Alumni Affairs, won fourth in the Female 65-to-69 age group, 141st among all females and 325th overall with a time of 2:41:30.
