Dr. Joseph Bailey, a 1955 graduate of MCG, began his career in teaching at his alma mater in 1961 and in 1967 established the medical school’s Rheumatology section. He later became Chief of Rheumatology, a position he held until his retirement from the Medical College of Georgia in 2000. Upon his retirement he was appointed Leon Henri Charbonnier Chair emeritus and associate dean for clinical sciences emeritus.
