Dr. Ruth Shull, ’55, Charleston pediatrician dies

Dr. Ruth Thomas McIntyre Shull, age 88, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. She was born on November 17, 1930 in Toccoa, GA, the daughter of Lessie and Ira McMinn. A 1951 graduate of Furman University, she was a member of several honor societies and received the Mary Mildred Sullivan Alumnae Award in 1986 for community service. In 1955 she graduated from the Medical College of Georgia where she specialized in pediatrics and served 3 years on staff of GA Training School. After 10 years in private practice in Port Wentworth and Rincon, GA, she joined the staff of Franklin Fetter Health Center in Charleston from 1970-1990. There she also served as acting medical director two times over the course of her career.
