Faculty Presented With Research Mentor Awards

The DCG held the inaugural DCG Research Town Hall on Sept. 14 to encourage research and future researchers, and to launch the new DCG Research Mentor Awards for faculty. Dr. Babak Baban, Associate Dean of Research, gave an overview of research at the DCG, stressing the importance of cultivating a research culture. Dr. Mohamed Meghil, Assistant Professor of Periodontics and President of the Georgia chapter of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, discussed ways to get engaged in research at the DCG and about future methods of promoting mentor-mentee interactions.

The DCG Research Mentor Awards are designed to recognize the members of the DCG community who provide leadership, direction, commitment and dedication to training the next generation of evidence-based clinicians and scientists. The recipients strengthen opportunities for students and residents to participate in research and provide an efficient and supportive administrative structure to promote a culture of research.
