Maddox, ’04, part of team that performs new ablation technique

Dr. William Maddox, ’04, associate professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical School, along with his colleague Dr. Tom McElderry, performed the first commercial procedure in the nation using the Medtronic DiamondTemp™ Ablation system. The two were co-primary investigators for the clinical trial that led to this device receiving FDA approval.
