Tigerwin “Tiger” Yang, Class of 2024, presented the abstract “Exosomes Derived from Gingival Tissues of Periodontitis Patients Cross Human BBB and Compromise its Barrier Function in an In-Vitro 3D Model” at the 2024 American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research General Session and Exhibition on March 13-16 in New Orleans, La.
Dr. Ranya Elsayed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics, serves as his mentor.
“My favorite part of research is being able to meet other students and hearing about their projects. It feels exciting to contribute a small part to the growth of our field,” Yang said.
Yang was recently named a 2024 Mark Ritz Research Scholar by the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He previously represented The DCG at the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Hatton Research Competition, and currently serves as the Immediate Past President for the DCG chapter of the Student Professionalism & Ethics Association.
