Parrish, ’56, former chief of Pediatric Surgery at MCG and CHOG, died Sept. 27

Dr. Robert “Bob” Alton Parrish Jr. a 1956 Medical College of Georgia graduate who served as chief of pediatric surgery at his alma mater and the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, died Sept. 27.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He graduated from Academy of Richmond County and went on to receive A.B. from Mercer University and an M.S. from University of Georgia. He was the first Chief of Pediatric Surgery. During his time, he received the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. In 1993, he retired as Professor Emeritus of Surgery and Pediatrics.
